I love everything from the beginning when we step into the dessert. Gruta is located on a busy street; however, you will find it hidden on the west side of the street. I think the translation to English is a small cave. The service is incredible! The waitress who helped us is from Manaus, Brazil. She was accommodating and explained all the dishes and recommended her favorite ones. She was happy and calm, which made our experience terrific. I observed that most staff (including the Chef) are women. I found it incredible since man primarily leads this field. The food: it is a combination of Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine. The dishes were delicious with a complex flavor. Plus, everything is made fresh in the restaurant, including the focaccia and apple bread (they call it pie) - I highly recommend both! I can’t wait to return to Portugal and hopefully try a new menu from Gruta.

We arrived around 30 mins after opening without a reservation and were able to get a seat in their courtyard. It was set up with heaters, blankets and a view into the kitchen. Every encounter with the staff from the moment we arrived was so amazing - they were kind, funny, and so attentive. The food and drinks were incredible! And we are already planning our next meal there! It was also lovely to hear they are female owned and operated. We had the most memorable and wonderful time at Gruta. Highly recommended.

Let me just say, as my first ever Michelin restaurant, I was quite impressed. The service is phenomenal! The waitresses are just so kind and take the time to explain each dish and how to eat it. The restaurant is small and cozy. I loved the size. I had oysters to start and will remember those oysters for the rest of my life. The Foccacia was phenomenal.Moist, warm with a soft bite complemented by fish rilletes, seaweed butter and something else I cannot recall. I had the Brazilian fish. Tender and beautifully seasoned. I would say slightly over salted but not a big deal. The wine was great! I was slightly sick so I couldn’t fully appreciate the tastes but from what I did taste it was fabulous!

Eating at Gruta was the most special dining experience we had our entire time in Portugal. Everything from the service, to the ambiance, to the food was spectacular. The staff is genuine, kind, helpful, and knows how to perfectly pace a meal. We started with the bread, which was some of the best bread my friend had ever had in her life. We moved to the zucchini salad which was a showstopper (recommended by our server). We then had the Crudo, followed by the prawns which were both very fresh and balanced. For our entrees, we had the Brazilian fish and the seafood rice. The Brazilian rice was okay but the seafood rice was a showstopper and we will be dreaming about it for a long time! With all of that and a bottle of wine we paid around 110 euro for an amazing meal. We will be back! Thank you Gruta.

Food was delicious. Vegetarian version of Brazilian fish stew Moqueca is available on the menu which was delicious and also starters have vegetarian options which is much appreciated as it is hard to find good vegetarian options on Portuguese menu (not talking about risotto or plate of veggies) I am not giving 5 stars overall as the service was really slow. So service rating is 3/5. It took 20-30 minutes for us to be served the dessert after main course. (We had already ordered the dessert along with starters, main course together) and the time taken between starters and main course were also long. If it’s improved then it’s 5/5! Otherwise, the staff, hospitality, ambiance was good.

Such a lovely place! The homemade focaccia bread and the little sticks with a dusting of seaweed was particularly delicious. The crudo was also great. The waitress was lovely and explained everything and the outdoor seating was nice and cozy with blankets to keep the chill away, perfect evening!

We were about 10-15 minutes late to our reservation, and they were very kind to be able to accommodate. Ambience was very nice and lively. Excellent service. And we knew the food was going to be amazing once we took a bite of the focaccia bread as s our starters.

I had a super romantic dinner with testing some green vine for the first time and eating a fantastic menu at Gruta Porto 🥂❤️ I'm a vegetarian and even though it mainly a fish restaurant I had a wonderful time here. I ate fantastic chocolate mousse, Panna Cotta, homemade Ravioli, cauliflower soup and honestly the best homemade olive oil Focaccia I've ever eaten on my life! What a wonderful and yummy night 🤤
